Description
The maintenance planning for the national road (UPlaNS) provides for the rehabilitation of the A6 motorway section Rubigen-Thun Nord-Spiez and Wimmis. The A6 motorway between Rubigen and Spiez was built at the beginning of the 1970s. Many parts of the system are technically outdated and need to be renewed. Within the framework of the RUTS maintenance project, the adaptation to today's requirements will be carried out with an overall overhaul and the serviceability of the entire road system, including operating and safety equipment, will be guaranteed for a further operating period of 15 to 20 years.

The following facilities were worked on:
  • Power supply (LV and MV)
  • Emergency power supply
  • Lighting
  • Ventilation and ventilation control
  • Signalling
  • Monitoring systems
  • Communication & control technology
  • Cable systems
  • Ancillary installations (control centres, oil retention basins, pumping stations, SABA's)
  • The current ASTRA guidelines and standards were implemented
Main Data
For the implementation of the UPlaNS, the route is divided into the following project perimeters:
  • A6 North section, sub-projects 1 & 2: open stretch, Rubigen entrance, Münsingen rest area.
  • A6 section middle, subprojects 3 & 11: open stretch, entrances Kiesen, Thun north and Thun south, Allmend tunnel (2 directionally separated tubes)
  • A6 south section, subprojects 12 &13: open section, Buchholz rest area, Lattigen junction, Simmenfluh tunnel, Simmenfluh escape tunnel
  • A8, subproject 13: open stretch
