With the application of the BIM method, we become creators of virtual buildings. We are convinced that this method brings significant advantages both for internal processes and for our clients. IM Maggia Engineering SA and IUB Engineering AG have already been using the method for several years as part of various pilot projects. This was done with the aim of gaining experience and adapting internal processes to the new way of working. The collaboration between draughtsmen and engineers will change fundamentally. Working in parallel with the old and new methods would only lead to additional work.
The main goals are higher quality, lower costs and long-term sustainability in the context of building and infrastructure maintenance. This is done with the aim of guaranteeing the precise and customer-oriented design of complex multidisciplinary work at all times.
Thanks to the BIM method, quality can be improved through the philosophy of the single source of truth. In this process, all information is brought together in the building model. Conflicts in the building model can thus be better identified and unforeseen structural changes can thus be reduced. With the high degree of visualisation and model-based communication, the design of models is further simplified.
Timetable introduction
Currently, our engineers and draughtsmen are being trained in the use of the BIM method. At the same time, the method is already being applied in some pilot projects.
The training includes workshops on project management training, use cases such as BIM 360 IFC Mapping and Parametric Modelling, and workshops focusing on associated programmes such as Allplan, REVIT, Civil 3D, Solibri and BIMPlus.
From 2024, the BIM method is to become the standard. The engineering group will then have trained personnel and design standards that allow projects to be successfully implemented using the BIM method. Further project teams will be trained on an ongoing basis and targeted further training will take place regularly so that our employees are always up to date with the latest technology.
