Congratulations on the opening of the Visp tunnel!

Friday, 23. September 2022

On Friday, 23 September 2022, the north tube and the overpass tunnel of the Visp tunnel were ceremoniously opened by the head of the Department of Mobility, Spatial Development and the Environment of the Canton of Valais, State Councillor Franz Ruppen, in bright sunshine.
Speakers included the Director of the Federal Roads Office FEDRO, Mr. Jürg Röthlisberger, and the Head of the National Roads Engineering Office DNSB, Mr. Martin Hutter.
With the opening, road users coming from Brig can now use the A9 continuously as far as the Visp West junction through the Eyholz tunnel and the Visp tunnel. From the Visp valley, the new motorway access road through the rebuilt Vispertal tunnel is now open to traffic. The new motorway section significantly relieves the municipality of Visp of through traffic. Currently still under construction is the conversion of the Visp valley tunnel into the south tube of the Visp tunnel, which will accommodate traffic in the opposite direction. The opening of this tunnel, which is planned in about 2.5 years, will complete the construction of the A9 Visp southern bypass.

We are proud to be involved in this project of the century as planners and construction managers.
