In mid-October, construction work on the Aare (Seftau) began with the construction company Kästli Bau AG. The construction site is used to create the new block sentence and the ecological structural measures.
The Aare has a particularly high ecological potential in the project area (Seftau to Halenbrücke). It is one of the few free-flowing sections without residual water runoff in the Mittelland. In addition, the water temperature is comparatively cool, which means that the Aare will continue to be an important habitat for cold-water species such as the grayling and brown trout. In the sections with bank protection in need of repair, a new block line will be created in combination with structural measures using rootstocks.
