Description

The aim of the measures is to preserve the structures and increase tunnel safety. To achieve this, concrete repairs were carried out, the tunnel lining was renewed and the roadway lining was replaced.
To increase safety, the tunnels have been fitted with a new roadway drainage system, new cable tube blocks in the benches and a new tunnel ventilation system. Some power stations have had their technical rooms extended, while others have been refurbished with EES equipment.
In the Giessbach tunnel, the existing intermediate slab was reinforced in the event of fire, and controlled exhaust air dampers were installed for the new ventilation system. This also involved converting the existing ventilation units at the portals. All the work in the tunnel was carried out with total night-time closures.
